A formal vampire reception is just that- formal. There are rules.
There are expectations. There are certain security measures that must be taken.
The list of things that should not occur includes, but is not limited to: duels for subjugation, bar brawls, and accidental, er, unintentional, well, not-meant-to-happen-at-that-moment demon calling.
Drinking from other master vampires, turning new vampires without permission, and reliving your first kiss, which happened to be with a serial killer are absolutely inappropriate.
But Eva Prim has caused…experienced…survived, yes, that’s the word. Eva and Stefan have survived other difficult challenges and she’s confident they’ll laugh about this some night. She thinks. Maybe.

Excerpt:
O’Malley wastes no time attacking me. But it’s not what I’d expected. He’s not poking around in my head like Felix led me to believe he’d do. Instead, he’s standing right behind me, his body brushing mine. “Why you ever chose Stefan is beyond me.” The heat from his body prickles my skin.
“Who’s to say how one falls in love?” I don’t move, but rather I feel his presence behind me, his power moving around me. It’s not like Stefan’s or THC’s or Gilroy’s. He doesn’t possess their sophistication or the sheer force they do. He’s not at all like any of our captains or Felix or Martin and Cheng. He’s not fluid like them.
“That’s exactly right. Who’s to say? Given a little time you may have been perfectly happy as a human, married with children.” His power, though strong, is edgy, jumpy almost. His presence sizzles and pops where it touches me. It’s uncomfortable to be near him.
“Maybe, but it was not my fate to remain human.”
“It was not your fate to be stolen away from me.” O’Malley inhales my hair. “Beneath that cheap shampoo you still smell like the meadow.” He brings a handful of my hair to his nose. “Wildflowers. Forget-me-nots.”
I turn my head as far as I can with him holding my hair. “What did you say?”
“Johnson’s Farm was a place you always loved. The Johnsons’ daughter, Emma, was a good friend of yours. The last real friend you ever had.”
“How do you know?” Not that I would deny what he said because it is true. I did love that place. It’s where Stefan changed me after we made love in the field out in the open under the stars. So beautiful. And Emma was my friend. Even remaining so after I changed. But, uh, how does the psycho know?
O’Malley steps in front of me. “Were you really able to forget me?” He takes my hands in his. “As a delicate wildflower blooms and dies in the hot sun…”
About The Author:
Jordan loves vampires. But if you know anything about Jordan, you already knew that detail. What you didn’t know was it wasn’t long ago that she began writing about them.
A few years back Jordan received a copy of Twilight from her husband as part of her anniversary gift.
By the end of that week she’d read the entire series and moved onto Anne Rice’s Vampire Chronicles. Eight weeks and eighteen vampire books later the idea for her first book, Perpetual Light came to her followed very quickly by Eva Prim.
In April of 2014 Prim & Proper, the second Eva Prim Novel becomes available. Also available are The Demon Mistress, the first Eva Prim Novel along with four short stories. For continual updates on Eva please join the Snack Of The Week Club at www.evaprim.com.
Jordan is a member of the national Romance Writers of America organization and several chapters. When she’s not writing about one vampire or another Jordan enjoys spending time with her husband, Ken and their lovable Labrador, Dino on the beautiful beaches of New England.
